The Falkirk Wheel
A short distance from Edinburgh, the Forth and Clyde Canal meets with the Union Canal. Unfortunately one of them is over 30 meters higher than the other. The solution turned out to be this thing called the Falkirk Wheel. It’s an elegant lift that just rotates and lifts boats from one canal to the other. It doesn’t cost any money to go and look at it, but it does cost money to get in a boat and be lifted between canals while a guide tells us about the history, and that’s what we want to do 🙂
